Powder glass rondelles (aka Krobo, Fused or Sandcast) made in Ghana
Beads are about 4mm thick and 12-14mm in diameter, Pale blue/turquoise
20-inch strands, about 110 beads
These beads have holes big enough for 2mm leather and the colors work really well together. I had to buy some of each they were so delicious. (Not all are posted yet, more coming soon)
To make powder glass beads, glass (often recycled) is ground into a fine powder, colorants are added, and the powder is sifted into in clay molds. A twig is inserted to hold the center hole open. The mold is fired until the glass melts just enough to fuse the particles together. The twigs burn away in this process, leaving the hole. Then the beads are removed and cleaned.
They are great fun to design with because the they come in such great colors that go well together
