- The new Czech bead industry is descended from the Bohemian workshops that sold boatloads of beads to the African trade from the 1850s to 1900
- These are samples from one family workshop that was trying to break free from communist control of the industry shortly after the Czech Republic gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1993. I was their first American customer. Technically they're vintage now (more than 20 years old) but they're in pristine never-used condition from a snapshot in time on the long arc of Bead History.
