Mother of pearl white 4mm round beads on 16" strands
Technically mother of pearl is the nacre that forms on the inside of molluscs and other bivalves that also make pearls
Whereas pearls are made when an irritant, natural or inserted by humans, is covered with nacre, mother of pearl beads are cut from the actual mollusc shells. This is why large mother of shell beads are rare - the shells and their nacre linings aren't large enough for many large beads.
