Talhakimt are derived from Indian finger rings, but in North Africa they evolved into protective amulets and fertility charms.
The design is always the same: an arrowhead shape fused to a ring, but the size, shape and material vary. The originals were stone from India, then in the early 20th Century they were copied for the African trade by European stone cutters, and subsequently reproduced in various colors of glass and even plastic. Clearly these remain culturally important.
