- Thai silver, capstan shape beads (aka bamboo, dog bone or pinched cylinder shape) Made of interwoven strips of fine silver in a traditional basketweave patters, 26mm long by 17mm diameter at the ends and 15mm in the middle
- I was delighted on my most recent trip to Thailand in October, to find some great new shapes, both flat and three dimensional for this basketweave and similar women collections. Supplies are limited and silver prices are rising so don't delay.
- Our Thai silver (aka Hill Tribe) is made by Karen smiths and other ethnic groups living in villages in the highlands of the Golden Triangle near Chiang Mai. In addition to the beautiful soft glow of the fine silver, the work is meticulous, often featuring detailed stamped or etched designs in traditional, as well as contemporary, shapes and patterns.
