Description
- Multicolor Graduated Tourmaline rondelles 2x4mm on 16-inch strand
- Tourmaline has a wider variation in colors than any other gemstone and many of them are on display here including gradations from light to dark for each color.
- Watermelon tourmaline includes both the pink (Rubelite) and green (Chromdravite) varieties in this strand.
- The clearer the stones and the more precise the cutting, the higher the value. These are higher value stones and better cut than those in JSD-646. The price is also correspondingly higher.
- Tourmalines can also be yellow, brown (aka Dravite), blue (aka Indicolite), violet or black
- The stones are most likely from Sri Lanka, which is also the source of the name turmali , which became Tourmaline.
- Brazil is currently the most important source of tourmalines, but they are also found in the US, Africa, Madagascar and Russia.
- With its many varieties and capacity to become electrically charged when rubbed, tourmaline is one of the most important mineral groups for metaphysical use.
- Only one available from the collection of Joyce Diamanti, bead researcher, writer, editor and educator
