- It's took a couple of years, but I finally found the source, but the price has gone up and probably will continue to do so as the quality in some shapes and sizes goes down. These are just as bright blue turquoise as the first strands I found and they're the only shape/size I was able to buy in quantity this year. Who knows whether I'll be able to find more next year. Basically, if you like them, get them while you can!
- Nobody has been able to tell me what the gold colored "frame" is made of, but after breaking one bead, I'd say its a type of very durable and thick enamel like super nail polish. It doesn't flake off, I had to take a hammer to it to break it.
